Person-centred psychotherapy is a humanistic approach based on the work of Carl Rogers. It assumes that people have inner resources and that—under the right conditions—growth, self-clarification, and meaningful change can become possible.
In therapy, I create a safe and supportive setting in which you can better understand yourself and put your experience into words. I work with the core conditions of the approach: empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence (genuineness). This relationship can help you recognise and examine entrenched patterns and internalised beliefs—and develop new perspectives and room to act.
The therapeutic relationship
My aim is to create a trusting and protected working relationship in which you feel free to express your thoughts and feelings openly—without concern about being judged or criticised.
I support you in clarifying your concerns, developing personal goals, and finding next steps that feel right for you. In the person-centred approach, the therapeutic relationship is a key factor in change and provides the foundation for meaningful therapeutic work.
The three core conditions
In the person-centred approach, three core conditions form the foundation of my work. I aim to offer these consistently throughout the therapeutic process and to make them tangible together with you:
Empathy
I aim to understand your inner experience from your perspective and reflect that understanding back to you in a helpful way.
Unconditional positive regard
I meet you with respect and acceptance—regardless of the thoughts, feelings, or topics you bring.
Congruence
In the therapeutic relationship, I strive to be present, transparent, and genuine—in a way that supports the process and can provide orientation.
The therapy process
In the initial consultation, we get to know each other and discuss what brings you to therapy. Together, we clarify whether working together in this setting feels like a good fit and what goals you would like to focus on.
Sessions usually take place weekly and last 50 minutes. The length and frequency of therapy are tailored to your individual needs, goals, and the course of the therapeutic process.
